Che Schifo (a little book of love lessons and tinder mistakes)
On my trip to Siena, Italy in Jan 2020, I created this zine as part of my final art project. This explores the interesting relationship between Italy and the romanticization of different aspects where it be the landscape, architecture, or men. This served as an experiment to see what online dating is like in another country (especially since I do NOT speak Italian) but also to critique what we value in travel, exploring, and romanticizing other lifestyles. A lot of tours, visits, and lectures I attended HEAVILY consisted of medieval/renaissance art (understandably so), but this book serves as a purpose to question and reevaluate the purpose of glorifying the unfamiliar.
But in all seriousness, at the end of the day, this book just proves men suck. Universally.
Enjoy! I've attached two copies. One for online viewing, one for printing. Any feedback may be sent to alexismchilson@gmail.com. Thank you for reading and consuming my artwork!
